Bridge on Theinsville Riverwalk is a room-defining painting in expansive size and perspective. It shows the entire length of the river walk in Thiensville, Wisconsin in Spring. The bridge spans a waterway designed to help fish navigate their way around man made dams in order to go upstream to spawn. Late afternoon rays of sunshine cast long shadows into the foreground, burst into a ball of light in the sky and flood the tree branches with crimson red. I tried to strike a balance between careful, precise drawing and the spontaneous flow of the watercolor medium in order to create a scene that was clear and clean-looking, yet maintained some of the impressionistic dynamics of a painterly approach. Bridge on Thiensville Riverwalk was created on a double elephant size, cold pressed watercolor paper, is float mounted and matted with museum quality mats and framed in a wide, gold leaf frame under Plexiglas.
