IMG_4136 The Last Amen

The Last Amen shows an historic bank barn in late stages of decay, with sunlight sparkling through the exposed lattice work of its rafters.  This painting is part of a series focused upon farming landmarks that are disappearing from our environment.  As an artist, I was drawn by the way shadows cast upon the weathered wood were interwoven with the trees surrounding the barn, by the sunset symbolizing an approaching end and by the light blanket of snow frosting the fallen branches.   This painting was created on hot pressed watercolor paper, double-matted and framed with conservation materials.
