IMG_4206 Blue Heron in Summer

Blue Heron in Summer is one of five miniature original watercolor paintings created for the Cedarburg Cultural Center's annual juried art exhibit, The Little Show, which opens November 29th with a public reception and awards program.  42 Wisconsin artists are exhibiting miniature works of art.  This is a cash and carry show, which has traditionally sold out early.  Blue Heron is a study of this beautiful bird in a complex natural environment of water, vegetation and refections.  I tried to capture the contrast of the heron's blue and white majestic feathers with its' mossy green and sienna brown surroundings.  It is bonded to a cradled wood panel and framed in a 2' deep pecan frame.
