Around the Corner is an Ozaukee County montage. Included in this composition are (clock-wise from upper left) the Observation Tower in Mequon Nature Preserve; the former red octagon "Clausing" barn built by Henry Keikhaefer in the 1880's, which stood across Highland Road from Concordia College; the Chimney Swift Tower in Virmond Park, clad in artist Sally Dubeck's ceramic art; a view of the clay bluffs along Lake Michigan; bicyclists representing Mequon's biking community and Concordia College's Biathalon; the bridge over the Fishway in Theinsville Park; the Thomas Elroy Buntrock statue commemorating the former Chief of Police's sacrifice of his life to save a child taken hostage; a view of Cedar Creek shoreline; the art deco styled City Hall; the Mequon-Thiensville Library; and chimney swift birds along the border of the composition.
This painting was created on 300lb. hot press paper, float-mounted, double matted and framed in a classic Logan Florentine Walnut metal frame. It is displayed and for sale at the Cedarburg Cultural Center in the Wisconsin Watercolor Society's 2018 Fall Show until December 2, 2018.
