Long Slide Falls

Long Slide Falls, a landscape on rough 300lb. Arches watercolor paper, is an impressionistic view of the waterfall in Niagara, Wisconsin in Marionette county.  I was excited about the sheer overabundance of color, energy and the dynamic force of the wild whitewater, the brilliant red maple leaves, and the snake-like roots of the cedar trees among the boulders.  This watercolor painting is a departure from my usual technique of minimal detail finishing, as I spent much more time with shapes, edges, contrasting values and colors.  I wanted to depict the wildness of the scene.  This painting is framed in gray barn wood, float mounted, double matted with conservation materials and finished with non glare glass.  Framed size is 36" H, 46" W.  It is exhibited in the Ozaukee County Art Show at the Cedarburg Cultural Center opening on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and is for sale at $950.
