Below the Dam in Thiensville is a watercolor in the Shared Paths Through Ozaukee County exhibit.  This collection features watercolor paintings accompanied  by an ecologist, Ozaukee County Director of Planning and Parks, Andrew Struck, giving the naturalist's view of the places they portray.

In this scene, the fish passage is featured in the foreground water, shown by foamy ripples and a diagonal movement.  Artistically, the painting uses techniques of water reflections of the middle distance deck in rust red horizontal brushstrokes, which compliment the cooler shades of Thalo Blue and provide a cool/warm  palette.  Also significant is the low angle of the viewer's standpoint, from which depth and distance add drama to the height, depth and distances in the scene.
