Old San Juan Market Square IMG_1049 2

Old San Juan Market Square is one of a series of watercolor wash and Pen/ink paintings.  Puerto Rico has some beautiful unique seashores, rainforests and 16th century historic cities which were captured in a loosely painted vignette style and overlaid with pen and ink textures.  The dominant feature in this scene is the giant ancient tree which is an umbrella over the entire plaza and cobblestone streets.  Colors used in Old San Juan Market Square are Ultramarine Violet, Cobalt Blue, Cobalt Turquoise, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Transparent Orange, Sap and Viridian Green, Transparent Yellow, Alizarin Crimson and Opera Rose.  The ink calligraphy over all adds movement, detail sharpening and liveliness.

Old San Juan Market Square will be available from the artist and shown at the Holiday Art Fair in Cedarburg, Wisconsin in the Community Center,  W63N641 Washington Avenue on December 13, 14, and 15th.
