The Minnehaha Trail is a familiar spot to anyone who has been hiking at Peninsula Park in Door County.  This view is the place immediately after passing the "Difficult Trail Ahead" sign.  It is an inspiring experience to be climbing over rocks, wet moss and snake-like roots, with Lake Michigan to the left and the towering Eagle Bluffs to your right.  I tried to capture the wildness of this trail, especially the massive, lichen textured caves along the bluff and the reaching branches of the trees, some of which are hundreds of years old.  The Minnehaha Trail contrasts brilliant Indian Yellow, Sap Green and the reserved white of the Arches paper with the intensely saturated darks of the bluffs in Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Alizarin Crimson and Winsor Green.  Hundreds of glazes were laid down to achieve the strong value contrasts, with crushed plastic wrap impressed upon it for texture.  This painting is one of a series of Door County scenes, float mounted and double matted, framed to 24" by 30".  It is available through the artist.
