High Water is a watercolor painting using a one point perspective system, in which all horizontal equidistant lines converge at a vanishing point on the horizon.  This  leads the viewers' eye directly into the background of the painting.  The landscape here is the Thiensville Riverwalk Bridge.  The bare sihouettes of  the trees form an arching pattern over the path.  Strong diagonal

shadows cast through the railings of the bridge increase the dynamic composition, while the light airy colors breathe a feeling of spring.

Colors used in High Water were Indian Yellow, Transparent Yellow, Sap Green, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue,  Cerulean Blue, Burnt Sienna, Alizarin Crimson and Transparent Orange.  Techniques used in High Water were:   floating pigment into water  in a shaped area,  like the shadows and trees;  negative painting each open area of the railing structure separately;   splatter and dry brush texture on the foreground bridge;  and allowing the colors to blend in the painting, not premixed on the palette.

High Water is available through Alice Struck Watercolors, priced at $475, framed.  If  interested, check the Contact page.
