IMG_3952 Trillium Trek

Trillium Trek is a watercolor painting of the path through Lion's Den Gorge Nature Preserve, Grafton, WI in spring.  A fallen tree provides bold contrast, sharp angles and a dramatic action line over the wooded hillside.  Sunlight filters through the trees, flooding the  carpet of white trilliums.  Trillium Trek was painted with direct brushwork in a loose, painterly style using vivid underpainting.  Hot orange, violet and sienna underneath the green and white of the flowers creates color excitement and emotional longing for the beauty of nature in the changing of the seasons.  This painting is painted on Arches 300 lb. hot pressed watercolor paper, float mounted, double matted and framed in a 32'X 40" florentine brushed walnut Logan frame.
