IMG_3994 On the Edge of the Bluff

On the Edge of the Bluff is a summer landscape of the clay bluffs in Ozaukee County Virmond Park.  (See the winter version in this digital gallery, Virmond Park Twilight)  It was painted on site during the annual summer premiere Cedarburg Plein Air Event.  The painting is simply  mounted on acid free foam core board and framed in a gray driftwood colored frame, with the plein air authenticity stamp visible in a cut out on the backing.  Summer greens and the sienna red clay colors predominate against the sapphire blue green of Lake Michigan in the background.  Long shadows create an interesting light/dark pattern, contrasting the dramatic erosion of the bluffs with the groomed park land above them.
