Water Street, Milwaukee

Water Street, Milwaukee is an urban street scene from the theatre district of the city, looking towards Milwaukee City Hall.  The dramatic early morning light throws brilliant reflections into the windows of the building opposite Milwaukee School of Engineering.  The viewers' eye is  carried into the center of interest with the bicyclist approaching on the left, painted, then wiped out to create a sense of action.  Architectural drawing  and linear perspective emphasize the historic character of the buildings in downtown Milwaukee.  A summer palette of light , bright colors and strong shadows help to create a feeling of place.  This painting was done on Arches hot pressed paper, float mounted and double matted.  It is framed in a custom wood frame.
