Fourth of July in Thiensville Neighborhood

Fourth of July in Thiensville Neighborhood is a watercolor painting of the shade tree lined street in the historic section of Thiensville.  Flags fly from the street lights, a family bicycles on the road and sun dappled shadows fall across the lawns and sidewalks.  This painting began as a demonstration for an artists' group and went through many sessions of paint application, glazing, lifting details and texturing with salt and splatter.  The spreading trees are typical of Thiensville's quiet neighborhoods, which are lined with bungalows and two-story flats.  A rich palette was used with dominant complementary colors of greens and reds.  It was painted on hot pressed Arches watercolor paper. float mounted, double matted and framed in a custom wood frame.
