I am the Vine is an acrylic painting on canvas, which is currently on display at the Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon. This was a theme I explored in two mediums so as to experience the characteristics of each. Although I teach watercolor painting and my professional identity is with watercolors, I was originally an oil painter, a potter and a sculptor until I chose watercolors because of their relative safety near my children. Many artists are comfortable in a variety of media, because the core challenge in each is to bring to life something that didn't exist before.
I am the Vine refers to a Biblical quote, "I am the vine and you are the branches".
